Cellos for Trees is a music video project with a vision to plant 10'000 trees.
Trees gave us the possibility to create cellos, a voice to speak from wood back to wood. Now it’s time to give back and plant trees! Planting trees is an awesome way for us to give back and connect with nature.
Our goal is to generate funds to plant 5'000 trees in Ireland and 5'000 trees globally as part of key impact reforestation projects.
Cellos for Trees is an exciting global cello project spearheaded by Irish cellist Clíodhna Ní Aodáin. A call to action to plant 10'000 trees, Clíodhna’s goal is to generate funds to plant 5'000 trees in Ireland and 5'000 trees globally as part of key impact reforestation projects.
Cellists from all over the world were invited to participate in creating a music video, playing a composition by Clíodhna called Full Circle – Cellos for Trees. 200 cellists from Alaska to New Zealand answered the call.
Every level of cellist could participate. They chose a part to play, then made a video of themselves playing under their favourite tree, creating finally a virtual forest of cellos and trees.
Represting a musical tree, Full Circle - Cellos for Trees growns from seed, to roots, to trunk, to crown. Listeners hear the "tree" as is grows. As lyrical melodies build, the compelling groove drives deeper into the ground to support the magnificence of the tree.
Clíodhna Ní Aodáin, musician, artist and advocate of environmental regeneration, believes that music and art can move people to take action where endless political speeches have failed.
“Trees gave us the possibility to create cellos. Now it’s time to give back and plant trees!”
“Cellos for Trees is an awesome way for us to reconnect to nature while supporting both culture and sustainability.”
